In high-speed bottling and packaging lines operating above 60 units per minute, conveyor jamming is one of the leading causes of unplanned line downtime. When unstable containers topple, bridge across transfers, or wedge against guide rails, upstream filling machines must emergency-stop, leading to product overflow, glass breakage, and lost shift output.
1. Optimize Infeed Acceleration with Variable Frequency Drives (VFD)
Sudden speed transitions between conveyor sections cause container tipping due to kinetic momentum changes. At OSTECH, our conveyor networks use multi-zone VFD controllers that gradually accelerate bottles during infeed and softly decelerate containers before entering the case packer infeed collation grid.
2. Implement Zero-Pressure Accumulation (ZPA) Zones
When downstream equipment slows down for a reel splice or recipe changeover, upstream containers continue to push forward, building up immense line back-pressure. This pressure can crush lightweight PET bottles or jam pouches. Utilizing zero-pressure accumulation roller conveyors or bi-directional modular accumulation tables isolates back-pressure, holding containers in buffered zones without touching.
3. Precision Engineered Side Guide Rails with Low-Friction UHMW-PE
Improperly aligned guide rails create pinch points that cause containers to shingle and lock together. OSTECH installs quick-adjust stainless steel guide rail brackets lined with ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE) to ensure low friction and eliminate static charge buildup.
4. Smooth Dead-Plate and Side-Transfer Transitions
When containers transition between adjacent conveyors or turn 90 degrees, gaps between belts can trap container rims. We engineer ultra-tight nosebar transfers and motorized dead-plate rollers to ensure flawless transfer of miniature pharmaceutical vials and flexible pouches without hesitation.
